food trucks
Food trucks have taken the country by storm, and while the pandemic may have slowed them down a bit, or had them transition more to private events than to city streets, some amazing food can still be found served from four wheels in our area.
Below, please find some of our favorites in New Haven, the Connecticut area, and New York City.
new haven
Ever wondered about that long line of food trucks parked next to I-95? We’ve got the best of those.
Ixtapa Mexican Tacos
Not all food trucks on Long Wharf Drive are created equal, but Ixtapa rises above them all. They especially shine on their al pastor, carne asada, and carnitas tacos.
Mexicali Black Truck
Next up amongst the Long Wharf trucks is Mexicali. Strong, consistent showing among their tacos, chalupas, and quesadillas.
Caseus Cheese Truck
You’ll have to hunt this truck down a bit via the “Find Us” page on their site, but if you are in the market for the super gooey, perfectly toasted creamy goodness of an amazing grilled cheese, you can’t go wrong with Caseus.

Birria Landia
The Birria Landia truck may or may not be the reason we decided to highlight food trucks today. One of if not THE most acclaimed food truck in the country right now, Birria Landia’s two trucks - one in Brooklyn, one in Queens - have four things on the menu, all revolving around the birria meat that is cooked down for many hours in an amazingly spiced adobo consomme. Whether you go with the tacos, tostados, or mulitos (think quesadilla), make sure you get a bowl of the consomme on the side to dip your food into. There is a reason Eater made a Maya Rudolph-narrated tribute video to this truck, and you’ll understand why after one bite.
Wafels & Dinges
How can you go wrong with made-to-order Belgian waffles, smothered in delicious toppings? Not sure you can. Head to this truck next to Bryant Park and let us know!
