the job posting
Submitted by CW, Connecticut
My brother placed an ad looking for a housekeeper after having their first baby. In the ad response, a man replied, asking for the job. He said he had no experience and no references, as he worked in a pizza shop and was really struggling financially and would work hard.
My brother responded and said he couldn’t offer him the job, but would like to send the man some money via Venmo, to help him out regardless. Which was nice.
The man then said, “If this is real, and you would really do this, then would you send that money to my sister, who is also really struggling and this would be the best surprise for her”. Which was ALSO really nice.
When my brother sent her the money via Venmo - $50, not a lot - the sister wrote him a letter, telling him he could never know how much that money helped. The family then emailed my brother to tell them they would be working to pay the money back, which was ALSO really nice (and not accepted).
This story lifted my heart because it showed how a small #sliceofnice that was extended by my brother actually ended up being a bigger gift for him than the recipient of the $50. Lots of goodness on the parts of all involved, in the midst of a tough time for all.
